Charles McCaughan

Charles McCaughan’s work speaks directly to the unconscious beliefs that shape the “operating system” of the human experience—body, mind, and spirit. His approach helps individuals transition from a defensive, limitation-based mindset into one rooted in trust, empathy, and present-moment awareness. By resolving old emotions and deeply ingrained beliefs formed through life experiences, this work creates space for true transformation.

Much like Reiki dissolves energetic blocks in the body, Charles' facilitation of Psychoenergetic Transformation works to:

  1. Identify the specific beliefs that drive emotions and behaviors.

  2. Reveal how these beliefs selectively shape and manifest life experiences.

  3. Neutralize the emotional charge underpinning limiting beliefs.

Once these energetic charges are cleared, the core beliefs themselves dissolve, allowing for a profound identity shift. The individual is then free to respond through conscious choice in the present moment—rather than reacting based on past experiences and emotional distress.

About Charles

Charles McChaughan grew up in Seattle in a home shaped by trauma, instability, and contradiction. His father, a prominent surgeon, was abusive—instilling fear and emotional chaos into his family. His mother, battling depression and alcoholism, pinned her unfulfilled dreams of becoming a professional actor onto Charles, who, eager for love and approval, took it on as his own path.

As a boy growing up in the shadow of violence and unmet emotional needs, Charles developed extreme self-consciousness and many distorted views of the world. These beliefs shaped not only how he saw himself, but how he saw others as a constant threat to his well-being.

Charles followed his mother’s dream all the way to London, where he trained at the prestigious London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art. Immersed in the world of method acting, he honed his skill through the Stanislavski, Meisner, and Strasberg techniques—learning to inhabit roles with emotional intensity that, ironically, mirrored his inner turmoil. But behind the scenes, he remained haunted by patterns formed in childhood and early dysfunctional environment.

But even as he succeeded on stage and screen, something deeper stirred within him—a yearning for healing that fame and performance could not fulfill.

At age thirty, Charles turned inward, beginning what would become a lifelong journey of self-inquiry. He entered traditional psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, committing over a decade to deep inner work. And yet, despite all those years of conventional therapy, primal scream, cognitive, Freudian, Jungian—you name it, the core patterns remained.

When conventional methods fell short, he sought something deeper. This led to an eight-year immersion in alternative psychoanalytical training, where he became a counselor and eventually president of The Society for Evolving the Self Matrix.

Through decades of study—Charles began to synthesize a new framework to unravel the fabric of his own core beliefs and transform his life. From this, Psychoenergetic Transformation was born: a multidimensional healing process designed to help people uncover and clear the core beliefs keeping them stuck.

Clients often describe working with Charles as a fast-track to the core of their essential issues, blasting through what would be years of talk therapy in a few hours or weeks.

Having walked through trauma, addiction, and the long road of personal healing himself, Charles meets others not as a distant expert, but as someone who has lived the very questions they are asking. He will be the first to tell you:

“I am my own worst client, but I work on myself first and everyone else after that. This work saved my life and when I work with others I work with that same intention—to help them save theirs.”
